Canvas: "Content retrieval failed" when inserting Mediasite content into Canvas

Issue

When inserting an individual Mediasite presentation into Canvas using the tools in the Rich Content Editor, the following error is displayed:

Content retrieval failed, please try again or notify your system administrator of the error.

Cause

A recent change in Canvas has broken part of the Mediasite integration.

Solution

As a workaround, choose Presentation Link when inserting the Mediasite content into Canvas.

Additional Information

Existing embedded content will not be impacted; it will still continue to be accessible. This is only an issue with adding new embedded content.

A fix for this issue is under development and is expected to be released October 10
