OneDrive Document Sharing: Setting Permissions

If you would like to set sharing permissions for another person to have access to a document that you own, please use the following instructions:

  1. Open Word (or Excel) doc > Select Share in the top right-hand corner of your document. 
  2. To specific sharing permissions, you must upload a copy of the document to your OneDrive.                                                                                        
  3. Click on  and it will pull up your Link Settings 
  4. If you only want the person to view and not download the doc, verify the 'Allow Editing' box is not checked and select 'Block Download' button > Apply
  5. If you would like to allow editing, check the box to allow editing and uncheck block download. 
  6. Enter the email address of the person that you would like to share the document with > Send                                                  

The document will now be shared with the person you were trying to send it to. You can manage the permissions and remove access at any time. To edit permissions, open document > click Share > Click on the 3 dots next to Send Link and select Manage Access.
