How to ssh to Athene using Mac/Linux

This article explains how to securely connect to the Athene cluster using SSH (Secure Shell) on Mac/Linux. SSH is the primary method for accessing the cluster to submit jobs and transfer files.

Note:  To access FAU’s High Performance Computing Clusters users must first request access using the “Request Support” page.

 Through your command line, type the following:

 ssh NETID@athene-login.hpc.fau.edu

Enter the password of your Net ID, then accept the DUO prompt.

If you added your public key to Athene, then no password is needed. Click here to setup keygen. (optional)

You are now connected to the resource.

SSH login without a Password:

Using OnDemand:

  • Go to https://athene-ondemand.hpc.fau.edu/pun/sys/dashboard
  • Enter your FAUNet ID and password.
  • click Clusters > Athene Shell Access
  • You are now connected to the resource.
