Summary
This guide explains how to upload a pre-existing video file (such as an MP4 or MOV) from your computer into your My Mediasite portal. This is the correct workflow for adding videos you have recorded with a phone, a camera, or other screen recording software.

Step-by-Step Upload Instructions
- Log in to your My Mediasite portal.
- Near the top of the page, click the button to add new content. This is typically labeled Add Media.
- From the options that appear, select I want to upload a file.
- The upload interface will open. You can either:
- Drag and drop your video file from a folder on your computer directly into the designated area on the page.
- Click the Browse my computer button to open a file selection window and navigate to your video file.
- Once you select your file, the upload will begin automatically. A progress bar will show the status of the upload. Do not close your browser tab until the upload is 100% complete. The time this takes will vary depending on your file size and internet connection speed.
- After the upload finishes, you will be prompted to enter details for your new presentation.
- Enter a Title for your video.
- (Optional) Add a Description.
- Click the Create Presentation button to finish.
What Happens Next: Video Processing
Your video is not available to view immediately after you upload it. Mediasite must first process (or "transcode") the file, which converts it into a standard format for streaming.
- You will see your new video appear in your list of presentations in My Mediasite, but it may have a "Processing" status.
- The processing time depends on the length and size of your video. It can range from a few minutes for a short clip to an hour or more for a long lecture.
- Once the processing is complete, the status will disappear, and your video will be ready to be edited, managed, and shared.
