Get a Sharable Link for a Mediasite Video

This guide explains how to get a direct URL (a web link) for a video in your My Mediasite library. This link can then be shared via email or pasted into a document or non-Canvas website.

Before You Begin: Set Your Video's Permissions

This is the most important step. A shareable link will not work if your video's permissions are set to "Private." You must make the video "Viewable" and define who can watch it.

• You must set your video's status to Viewable before sharing.
• For sharing with students or colleagues at FAU, we recommend setting the audience to My Organization, which requires viewers to log in with their FAUNet ID.
• DO NOT USE THIS LINK IN CANVAS!

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Access your "My Mediasite" portal. (For instructions, see our guide: How to Access My Mediasite from Canvas).

2. Find the presentation in your list that you wish to share.

3. Click the Share button, which is typically located below the video's title.

4. A "Share Presentation" pop-up window will appear. This window displays the direct link to your video.

5. Click the Copy button to copy the link to your computer's clipboard.

Sharing Your Link

You can now paste the copied link into an email, a Microsoft Word document, a webpage, or any other destination.

Remember, only the audience you selected in the permissions settings will be able to successfully view the video using this link. If a user does not have the correct permissions (e.g., they are not logged into their FAU account), the link will not work for them.
