Access ANDI and ANDISEC Drives

Access shared FAU network storage for departments and authorized users.

ANDI and ANDISEC provide shared network storage for departments and authorized FAU users. Access to each drive is based on approved permissions.

Before you begin: Confirm that you have been approved to access the drive. When you are off campus, you must connect to the FAU VPN before accessing ANDI or ANDISEC network drives.
  • Access is based on your FAU account and approved permissions.
  • Some drives may appear automatically on FAU computers.
  • If access was recently granted, restart the computer and sign in again.
  • If an approved drive does not appear automatically, you can map it manually using the network path provided by your department or drive owner.

Map a Network Drive

Connect to an approved ANDI or ANDISEC network drive on Windows or macOS.

Before mapping a drive: Confirm that you have permission to access the drive and obtain the correct network path from your department or drive owner. If you are off campus, connect to the FAU VPN first.
  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. Select This PC.
  3. Select the three dots (...) menu, then select Map network drive.
  4. Select an available drive letter.
  5. In the Folder field, enter the network path provided to you. For an ANDI drive, a typical path uses this format:
    \\fauandi1.fau.edu\shareddrivename
  6. Select Reconnect at sign-in, if available.
  7. Select Finish.
  8. If prompted, enter your FAU credentials.
Personal or non-FAU computer: Select Connect using different credentials when mapping the drive. When prompted, use your full FAU email address and FAU password.

After the drive connects, it should appear under This PC in File Explorer.

  1. Open Finder.
  2. From the menu bar, select Go.
  3. Select Connect to Server.
  4. Enter the network path provided to you. An ANDI path may use this format:
    smb://FAUNetID@fauandi1.fau.edu/share
  5. Replace FAUNetID with your FAUNet ID and share with the network share name provided to you.
  6. Select Connect.
  7. If prompted, enter your FAU password.

After connecting, the network drive should appear in Finder.

  • If you are off campus, confirm that you are connected to the FAU VPN.
  • Confirm that you have been granted access to the drive.
  • Confirm that the network path was entered correctly.
  • If access was recently granted, restart the computer and sign in again.
  • If using a personal or non-FAU Windows computer, select Connect using different credentials and use your full FAU email address.
  • If a previously mapped drive no longer works, disconnect the mapped drive and map it again.
  • If you receive Access Denied, you may not have permission to the drive or folder.

Access Your M: Drive

Connect to your personal FAU network storage.

Members of the FAU community may have access to a personal network drive, commonly mapped as the M: drive. This drive is intended for personal university file storage and is only accessible to the individual user.

  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. Select This PC.
  3. Select the three dots (...) menu, then select Map network drive.
  4. Select M: as the drive letter.
  5. In the Folder field, enter:
    \\fauandi1.fau.edu\home$\FAUNetID
  6. Replace FAUNetID with your FAUNet ID.
  7. Select Reconnect at sign-in, if available.
  8. Select Finish.
  9. If prompted, enter your FAU credentials.
M: drive missing? If the M: drive still does not appear or cannot be mapped, submit a support request.

Request Access or a New Drive

If you need access to an existing ANDI shared drive, you or your supervisor can submit a network drive access request. Department approval will be required.
