Alumni: Prepare for Microsoft MFA

Alumni: Prepare for Microsoft MFA

Purpose:

The University has migrated to a new multifactor authentication system, Microsoft Entra MFA.

To maintain access to your Google Workspace account, you must:

  • Change your password  (Visit accounts.fau.edu, click on Change your Password)
  • Set up Microsoft Authenticator (See instructions below)

Starting June 15, 2026, the new sign-in experience will take effect. If you have not completed these steps before that date, you will lose access to your account.

Questions:

What is Microsoft Entra MFA?

  • Entra MFA is Microsoft's cloud-based multi-factor authentication service that adds a layer of security by requiring additional verification methods beyond a password during sign-ins. The Microsoft Authenticator app is a specific authentication method used with Entra MFA to provide that second factor through push notifications, one-time codes, or passwordless sign-in via biometrics or a PIN.

What happens if I do not enroll?

  • MFA is required to access FAU Services and you will be unable to sign-in until you complete the enrollment process.
