Microsoft Teams: Install and Sign In

This article explains how to download, install, and sign in to Microsoft Teams on Windows, macOS, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

Before you begin: Sign in to Microsoft Teams using your FAU email address and FAU password.
Note: Microsoft Teams can also be accessed from a supported web browser by going to https://teams.microsoft.com. For the best experience on mobile devices, install the Teams mobile app.

Install Teams on Windows ▾

Use these steps to check whether Microsoft Teams is already installed on a Windows device. If Teams is not installed, you can install it from the Microsoft Store or from the Microsoft Teams download page.

Step 1: Check if Teams is already installed

  1. Open the Windows search bar.
  2. Search for Microsoft Teams.
  3. If Microsoft Teams appears in the search results, select it to open the app.
  4. Sign in using your FAU email address and FAU password.

Step 2: Install Teams from Microsoft Store

  1. Open the Windows search bar.
  2. Search for Microsoft Store.
  3. Select Microsoft Store from the search results.
  4. In Microsoft Store, search for Microsoft Teams.
  5. Select Microsoft Teams from the search results.
  6. Select Get or Install.
  7. After the installation completes, open Microsoft Teams.
  8. Sign in using your FAU email address and FAU password.

Alternative: Install Teams from the Microsoft Teams Download Page

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads.
  2. Download the Microsoft Teams desktop app for Windows.
  3. When prompted, save the installer file to your computer.
  4. Once the download completes, run the installer.
  5. Open Microsoft Teams.
  6. Sign in using your FAU email address.
  7. Enter your FAU password and select Sign in.
  8. Microsoft Teams is now installed and ready to use.
Note: If Microsoft Store is unavailable or app installation is blocked, the device may be restricted by device policy. Try the Teams download page or contact the Help Desk for assistance.

Install Teams on macOS ▾

Use these steps to install Microsoft Teams on a Mac. If Teams is already installed, open Teams from the Applications folder and sign in with your FAU account.

  1. Open a web browser and go to https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads.
  2. Download the Microsoft Teams desktop app for macOS.
  3. Once the download is complete, open the installer.
  4. Select Continue.
  5. Select Install.
  6. If prompted, enter your Mac password.
  7. When the installation is complete, select Close.
  8. Select Move to Trash to remove the installer.
  9. Open Finder, go to Applications, and open Microsoft Teams.
  10. Enter your FAU email address and select Next.
  11. Enter your FAU password and select Sign in.
  12. Microsoft Teams is now installed and ready to use.

Install Teams on iPhone or iPad ▾

Use these steps to install Microsoft Teams on an iPhone or iPad.

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Select Search.
  3. Search for Microsoft Teams.
  4. Select Get or the Download button next to Microsoft Teams.
  5. After the app finishes downloading, open Microsoft Teams.
  6. Sign in using your FAU email address and FAU password.
  7. Microsoft Teams is now installed and ready to use.

Install Teams on Android ▾

Use these steps to install Microsoft Teams on an Android phone or tablet.

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Microsoft Teams and select the Microsoft Teams result.
  3. Select Install.
  4. After installation completes, select Open.
  5. Select Sign In.
  6. Enter your FAU email address and select Sign in.
  7. Enter your FAU password and select Sign In.
  8. Click through the informational pages and select Got It.
  9. Microsoft Teams is now installed and ready to use.

Troubleshooting ▾

  • If you cannot install the desktop app, try using Teams on the web at https://teams.microsoft.com.
  • If you are using a mobile device, install Teams from the App Store or Google Play Store instead of using Teams in a mobile browser.
  • If sign-in fails, confirm that you are entering your full FAU email address and your current FAU password.
  • If your device is managed by another organization, app installation may be restricted by device policy.
  • If Teams opens but does not work correctly, restart the device and make sure the app is updated.
