Set Up OneDrive on iPhone, iPad, or Android

Use the Microsoft OneDrive mobile app to access, upload, scan, and share files from your FAU Microsoft 365 OneDrive account on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
Before you begin: You will need your full FAU email address, your FAU password, and Microsoft Authenticator to complete sign-in.
Note: The OneDrive mobile app is for accessing cloud files from your mobile device. It does not sync files the same way the Windows or Mac OneDrive desktop app does.

Install the OneDrive Mobile App

iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for Microsoft OneDrive.
  3. Select Get or the download icon.
  4. Open the OneDrive app after it installs.

Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Microsoft OneDrive.
  3. Select Install.
  4. Open the OneDrive app after it installs.
Tip: Make sure you install the official Microsoft OneDrive app.

Sign In with Your FAU Account

  1. Open the OneDrive app.
  2. Select Sign in.
  3. Enter your full FAU email address, such as FAUNetID@fau.edu.
  4. Select Next or Sign in.
  5. If redirected to FAU single sign-on, enter your FAUNet ID and password.
  6. Approve the sign-in using Microsoft Authenticator, if prompted.
  7. Allow notifications if you want OneDrive to notify you about file activity, uploads, or account alerts.
Sign-in tip: Use your full FAU email address when adding the account to OneDrive.

Access Files in the OneDrive App

After signing in, you can browse and open files from your FAU OneDrive account.

  • Open the OneDrive app.
  • Browse your folders or use the search option to find a file.
  • Tap a file to open it.
  • Use the file menu to share, move, rename, delete, or view more options, depending on your permissions.
Important: Be careful when deleting files from the OneDrive app. Deleting a file from OneDrive removes it from your OneDrive cloud storage.

Upload Files or Photos from a Mobile Device

You can manually upload files or photos from your mobile device to OneDrive.

  1. Open the OneDrive app.
  2. Go to the folder where you want to upload the file.
  3. Tap the + or Add button.

  5. Choose the file or photo you want to upload.
  6. Wait for the upload to complete.
Note: The exact button names may vary slightly depending on your device, operating system version, and OneDrive app version.

Scan Documents with the OneDrive App

The OneDrive mobile app can scan documents, whiteboards, business cards, or photos and save them to OneDrive.

  1. Open the OneDrive app.
  2. Tap the + or Add button.
  3. Select Scan.
  4. Allow camera access if prompted.
  5. Capture the document, whiteboard, business card, or photo.
  6. Review the scan and save it to the correct OneDrive folder.
Important: Do not scan or upload sensitive, confidential, or restricted information unless OneDrive is approved for that data and the file is stored and shared appropriately.

Optional: Camera Upload or Camera Backup

Camera Upload or Camera Backup can automatically upload photos and videos from your mobile device to OneDrive.

Use caution: Do not enable automatic camera upload to your FAU OneDrive if your device contains personal photos, sensitive university information, or files that should not be uploaded to your FAU account.

  1. Open the OneDrive app.
  2. Tap your account image or profile icon.

If you already use OneDrive with another account, you can add your FAU account to the OneDrive app.

  1. Open the OneDrive app.
  2. Tap your account image or profile icon.
  3. Select Add account.
  4. Enter your full FAU email address.

Mobile OneDrive Tips

  • Use the search option to quickly find files.
  • Use folders to organize uploaded files.
  • Confirm you are saving files to your FAU account if you have multiple accounts in the app.

  • Review sharing permissions before sharing files from your mobile device.
  • Avoid automatic camera upload unless it is appropriate for your FAU OneDrive account.

Troubleshooting

  • If you cannot sign in, confirm that you entered your full FAU email address.
  • If prompted for verification, approve the sign-in using Microsoft Authenticator.
  • If your files do not appear, confirm that you are viewing the correct OneDrive account.
  • If upload fails, check your internet connection and confirm the OneDrive app has permission to access the selected files or photos.
  • If scanning does not work, confirm that the OneDrive app has permission to access your camera.
  • If Camera Upload or Camera Backup does not work, confirm that it is enabled for the correct account.
  • If Camera Upload or Camera Backup still does not work, open the OneDrive app and leave it running long enough for uploads to process.
  • If files are missing or deleted, check the OneDrive recycle bin.
  • If you are using an FAU-managed mobile device, some settings may be managed by OIT.
