What do you need help with?

Access Your Email

Access Outlook online or on a device.

Use Outlook on the web or the Microsoft Outlook app to access your FAU email. Sign in using your full FAU email address, such as FAUNetID@fau.edu or FAUNetID@health.fau.edu.

Not sure which email address to use? Find your FAU email address .

  1. Go to Outlook on the web .
  2. Enter your full FAU email address.
  3. Sign in with your FAU account.

You can also access FAU email through MYFAU .

Open Outlook and enter your full FAU email address when prompted.

If Outlook is already configured:

CLASSIC OUTLOOK

Select File > Add Account.

NEW OUTLOOK

Select Settings > Accounts > Your accounts > Add account.

Open Outlook for Mac and enter your full FAU email address.

If Outlook is already configured, select Outlook > Settings > Accounts, then add your FAU account.

  1. Install Microsoft Outlook from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Open Outlook and select Add Account.
  3. Enter your full FAU email address.
  4. Sign in with your FAU account.
  5. Allow time for your email and calendar to sync.

Shared Mailboxes

Access a mailbox that has been shared with you.

Before you begin: You must already have permission to the mailbox. If you need access, your supervisor can submit an Add/Remove Users from a Departmental Account request .  A new departmental account can be requested here.
  1. Sign in to Outlook on the web .
  2. Select your profile icon or initials.
  3. Select Open another mailbox.
  4. Enter the shared mailbox name or email address.
  5. Select Open.

CLASSIC OUTLOOK

  1. Select File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
  2. Select your FAU account on the Email tab.
  3. Select Change > More Settings.
  4. Select the Advanced tab.
  5. Select Add.
  6. Enter the shared mailbox address.
  7. Select OK, close the settings windows, and restart Outlook.

NEW OUTLOOK

  1. Right-click your account name in the folder pane.
  2. Select Add shared folder or mailbox.
  3. Enter the shared mailbox name or email address.
  4. Select Add.
  1. Select File > Open > Shared Mailbox.
  2. Enter the shared mailbox email address.
  1. Open Outlook and select Add Account.
  2. Select Add a Shared Mailbox.
  3. If you have multiple accounts, select the FAU account that has access.
  4. Enter the shared mailbox address.

Calendars

Share calendars, open calendars shared with you, or reserve a room.

NEW OUTLOOK / WEB

  1. Open Calendar.
  2. Select Share Calendar.
  3. Select the calendar you want to share.
  4. Enter the person’s name or email address.
  5. Select the permission level next to their name.
  6. Select Share.

CLASSIC OUTLOOK

  1. Open Calendar.
  2. Select Share Calendar from the Home tab.
  3. Select the calendar you want to share.
  4. Select Add.
  5. Select or enter the person you want to share the calendar with, then select OK.
  6. Select the person and choose the appropriate permission level.
  7. Select OK.

Common permission levels:

  • Can view when I’m busy — Shows availability only.
  • Can view titles and locations — Shows availability, titles, and locations.
  • Can view all details — Shows full calendar details.
  • Can edit — Allows the person to make changes to the calendar.

If you receive a calendar sharing invitation, open the invitation and select Accept.

To add a calendar manually:

CLASSIC OUTLOOK

Go to Calendar > Home > Add Calendar > Open Shared Calendar, then enter the owner’s name or email address.

NEW OUTLOOK / WEB

Go to Calendar > Add calendar, then search for the person or shared mailbox.

MOBILE

Open Calendar, select Add Calendar, then Add Shared Calendars and search for the calendar.

  1. Create a new Outlook calendar event.
  2. Add the room using the room, location, or attendee option.
  3. Review the room’s availability and select an available time.
  4. Complete the meeting details and select Send.

Find or Recover Email

Find older, missing, or deleted messages.

The Online Archive stores older FAU email separately from your main mailbox. Messages older than two years are automatically moved there.

Where to find it: Look for Online Archive in your Outlook folder list beneath your primary mailbox.

Archive vs. Online Archive: The regular Archive folder is part of your mailbox. Online Archive is a separate location for older messages.

  1. Open Outlook on the web .
  2. Search by sender, subject, keyword, or approximate date.
  3. Use All folders or All mailboxes when available.
  4. Clear any active search or view filters that may be hiding messages.
  5. Check Deleted Items, Archive, Online Archive, and Junk Email.
  1. Open Deleted Items.
  2. If the message is no longer there, select Recover items deleted from this folder, if available.
  3. Select the message and restore it.

Security and Troubleshooting

Report suspicious or unwanted email, resolve blocked access, or troubleshoot Outlook.

Do not click links, open attachments, or reply to suspicious messages.

  1. Open the suspicious email.
  2. Select Report or Report Message.
  3. Select Report phishing.

Report phishing option in Outlook

For unwanted email that is not phishing, use Outlook’s Report Junk option.

If the Report option is unavailable, forward suspicious messages to security@fau.edu .

If access is blocked while using a VPN, proxy, or privacy service, disable the service and try again.

On Apple devices, this may include iCloud Private Relay. Visit Apple Support for instructions to turn off Private Relay.

Access to Microsoft Exchange Online is blocked message

  1. Try Outlook on the web .
  2. Restart Outlook and your device.
  3. Check your internet connection.
  4. Install available updates.
  5. Check whether your mailbox is at or near its storage limit.
  6. If the problem continues, contact the FAU Help Desk.

If Outlook on the web works, the problem is likely limited to the Outlook application or device.
