Turn Off iCloud Private Relay or Limit IP Address Tracking
iCloud Private Relay is an iCloud+ feature that helps protect browsing privacy in Safari. In some cases, it may need to be turned off for a specific network if a website, campus resource, or network service does not work as expected.
Important: The setting may appear as Limit IP Address Tracking or as iCloud Private Relay.
Limit IP Address Tracking for a Specific Wi-Fi Network on iPhone or iPad
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Next to the Wi-Fi network, tap the More Info button

- Scroll down and turn off Limit IP Address Tracking.
Limit IP Address Tracking for a Cellular Network on iPhone or iPad
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Cellular.
- Under SIMs, select the phone number being used.
- Tap Limit IP Address Tracking to turn it off.
Note: On iOS 18 or earlier, go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options, then tap Limit IP Address Tracking.
Limit IP Address tracking for a Specific Network on Mac
macOS Ventura or later
- Choose the Apple menu > System Settings.
- Click Network in the sidebar.
- Select the network service being used, such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- For Wi-Fi, click Details next to the connected network name. For Ethernet, click the Ethernet connection, then click Advanced.
- Turn off Limit IP address tracking.

macOS Monterey
- Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences.
- Click Network.
- Select the network from the list.
- Uncheck Limit IP Address Tracking.
Turn Off iCloud Private Relay from iCloud Settings
You can also turn off iCloud Private Relay from iCloud settings. This turns off the feature for the device instead of only for a specific network.
iPhone or iPad
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top of Settings.
- Tap iCloud.
- Tap Private Relay.
- Turn off Private Relay.

Mac
- Choose the Apple menu > System Settings.
- Click your name at the top of the sidebar.
- Click iCloud.
- Click Private Relay.
- Turn off Private Relay.
Troubleshooting
- If the issue only happens on one Wi-Fi network, turn off Limit IP Address Tracking for that specific Wi-Fi network first.
- If the issue happens while using cellular data, check the cellular Limit IP Address Tracking setting.
- If the issue happens on a Mac using Ethernet, check the Ethernet network settings, not only Wi-Fi.
- If the device uses multiple network connections, such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular, the setting may need to be changed for each connection separately.
- If the issue continues after changing this setting, restart the device and try again.
