About eduroam
eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, worldwide roaming access service developed for the international research and higher education community. It allows FAU students, faculty, and staff to use their FAU credentials to obtain internet connectivity not only here on campus but also when visiting thousands of other participating institutions globally. Wherever you see the "eduroam" network name, you can get online instantly using your FAUNetID@fau.edu and password.
Note: eduroam is the secure, preferred network for your phones and laptops for FAU students, faculty & staff.
Connecting to eduroam
Connecting on Windows OS
- Click Wi-Fi icon in the lower right-hand corner.
- Select eduroam and click Connect.
- Enter your username as FAUNetID@fau.edu and FAU Password, then click Connect.
- If prompted about the certificate, tap Trust in the top right.
Connecting on Mac OS
- Click Wi-Fi icon in the upper right-hand corner.
- Select eduroam
- If eduroam is not in the initial list, look under Other Networks.
- Enter your Account Name as FAUNetID@fau.edu and FAU Password,.
- Ensure Remember this information is checked and click OK.
- Click Continue on the "Verify Certificate" window to trust the network.
Connecting on iOS (iPhone/iPad)
- Open Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Select eduroam.
- Enter your FAUNetID@fau.edu and Password, then tap Join.
- If prompted about the certificate, tap Trust in the top right.
Connecting on Android & Google Pixel
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi (or Internet).
- Select eduroam.
- Enter the following:
- EAP Method: PEAP
- If this fails on a newer Pixel, try TTLS
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- If you used TTLS above, select PAP.
- CA Certificate: Select Trust on First Use (or "Do Not Validate")
- Identity: Enter your FAUNetID@fau.edu.
- Anonymous Identity: Leave this blank
- Tip: If you have trouble connecting, enter "anonymous@fau.edu" or manually delete the word "anonymous" from this field.
- Password: Enter your FAU password.
- Tap Connect.
- When the Security Certificate screen appears, select Trust or Connect.
Connecting on ChromeOS
- Select the time in the lower-right corner.
- Select Settings > Network > Wi-Fi.
- Select eduroam
- If eduroam is not listed, use Add connection > Add Wi-Fi and enter the same information. Google documents ChromeOS enterprise-network setup separately from Android.
- Enter the following:
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
- Server CA certificate: Use FAU’s currently approved selection.
- User certificate: None installed, if displayed.
- Identity: Enter your FAUNetID@fau.edu.
- Anonymous identity: Leave blank.
- Password: Enter your FAU password.
- Select Connect.
