Microsoft Office 365: Install on Your Personal Computer

If you use Office Online applications you will have access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote right within your web browser. Please note that the web versions may have limited functionality and you may need to download and install the desktop version should the feature(s) you need not be available in the web version. 

What to know before you install Office 365:

  • To access and activate your Office 365 subscription use your FAU email and password.
  • Office 365 will be deactivated once you leave FAU, this includes One Drive access.
  • One Drive - only available while you maintain an active student or employee status.
  • To install office you will need to be logged into the computer as an administrator.
  • iPhone/iPad/Tablets/smartphones- Download from App store and activate with FAU email and password. The apps will maintain the ability to read documents after your FAU activation expires.

To download Office 365:

  1. We recommend removing any older versions of Office before installing the new version.
  2. Visit and log in with your FAU email address (
  3. If prompted, select Work or school account. You will be redirected to SSO log in page. 
  4. Click on Install and more in the upper right corner and select Install Microsoft 365 apps.
  5. The installation file will download. Click open and then follow the prompts.
