The Issue Explained
When you access Mediasite from within Canvas, your browser needs to use third-party cookies to securely log you into the Mediasite system. Most modern web browsers have privacy features that block these cookies by default, which prevents Mediasite from loading correctly and can result in a blank page.

Resolution
The Solution: Adding a Site Exception
The recommended solution is not to allow all third-party cookies. Instead, you should add a specific exception to your browser's settings to allow cookies only from FAU's Mediasite portal.
The site address you need to add an exception for is: [*.]mediasite.fau.edu
Follow the instructions below for your specific web browser.
Browser-Specific Instructions
Google Chrome
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Go to Privacy and security, then click Third-party cookies.
- Scroll down to the "Customized behaviors" or "Allowed to use third-party cookies" section and click the Add button.
- In the "Site" field, enter
[*.]mediasite.fau.edu
and click Add.
- Close the settings tab, refresh your Canvas page, and try again.
Mozilla Firefox
- Click the three-line menu in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Go to Privacy & Security.
- Under "Enhanced Tracking Protection," scroll down to find the Manage Exceptions... button and click it.
- In the "Address of website" field, enter
https://mediasite.fau.edu
- Click Allow, then click Save Changes.
- Close the settings tab, refresh your Canvas page, and try again.
Microsoft Edge
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Go to Cookies and site permissions, then click Manage and delete cookies and site data.
- Look for the Allow section and click the Add button.
- In the "Site" field, enter
[*.]mediasite.fau.edu
and click Add.
- Close the settings tab, refresh your Canvas page, and try again.
Apple Safari (on macOS)
Safari's "Intelligent Tracking Prevention" works differently and does not have a simple site exception list.
- Click Safari in the top menu bar and select Settings (or Preferences).
- Go to the Privacy tab.
- The main setting that causes issues is Prevent cross-site tracking. Try unchecking this box.
- Close the settings window, refresh your Canvas page, and see if Mediasite loads.
- Important: For maximum privacy, we recommend you re-check the "Prevent cross-site tracking" box after you have finished viewing Mediasite content.
