Upload an Existing Video File to My Mediasite

Step-by-Step Upload Instructions

  1. Log in to your My Mediasite portal.
  2. Near the top of the page, click the button to add new content. This is typically labeled Add Media.
  3. From the options that appear, select I want to upload a file.
  4. The upload interface will open. You can either:
    • Drag and drop your video file from a folder on your computer directly into the designated area on the page.
    • Click the Browse my computer button to open a file selection window and navigate to your video file.
  5. Once you select your file, the upload will begin automatically. A progress bar will show the status of the upload. Do not close your browser tab until the upload is 100% complete. The time this takes will vary depending on your file size and internet connection speed.
  6. After the upload finishes, you will be prompted to enter details for your new presentation.
    • Enter a Title for your video.
    • (Optional) Add a Description.
  7. Click the Create Presentation button to finish.

What Happens Next: Video Processing

Your video is not available to view immediately after you upload it. Mediasite must first process (or "transcode") the file, which converts it into a standard format for streaming.

  • You will see your new video appear in your list of presentations in My Mediasite, but it may have a "Processing" status.
  • The processing time depends on the length and size of your video. It can range from a few minutes for a short clip to an hour or more for a long lecture.
  • Once the processing is complete, the status will disappear, and your video will be ready to be edited, managed, and shared.
