D Wave Quantum Computing User Request

Florida Atlantic University’s Research Computing team offers researchers access to D-Wave’s quantum annealing processing units (QPUs) and hybrid solver cloud services. D-Wave excels at traversing complex "energy landscapes" to quickly identify optimal or near-optimal solutions to NP-hard and computationally intensive problems.

What You Can Build and Test:

Through D-Wave's Ocean SDK, researchers can formulate problems as QUBO models or leverage D-Wave’s Nonlinear Program (NL-Hybrid) solvers to address real-world challenges across various disciplines:

  • Engineering & Operations: Complex scheduling, resource allocation, and dynamic traffic routing.

  • Computer Science & Data: Large-scale clustering, constraint satisfaction problems (CSP), and hybrid quantum-classical algorithms.

  • Life Sciences & Chemistry: Lattice protein folding, sequence alignment, and molecular configuration.

Workflow & Review Process:

Faculty, students, and collaborators submit project scopes through this portal. Submissions undergo a joint review by Research Computing and college leadership to assess resource requirements and problem suitability for quantum annealing. Approved users receive execution support, QPU time limits, and integration assistance.
