Faculty requiring remote access to their Linux and Windows workstations may apply to have their machines moved to the "Academic" network. These networks move a workstation from the traditional enterprise network to a research network allowing access through a Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop Gateway or a Linux Bastion Host.
Users opting to move their workstation(s) to the Academic network will need to use the VPN to connect to some administrative services which do not allow the less restricted academic network to connect.
The Linux bastion host may be accessed by ssh'ing through bast.hpc.fau.edu, once connected you may ssh to your host on the academic network.
The Windows Remote Desktop Gatway server is named "research-rds.hpc.fau.edu" more information may be located at Accessing Resources using Remote Desktop.
