Do I Need to Submit an Authorization Request?
✅ You DO NOT need to submit an authorization request for:
- Classroom Projects: Individual course assignments and classroom activities.
- Event or Program Feedback: Gathering feedback on participation or evaluation of a specific service, program, or event.
- Small-Scale Academic Research: Theses, dissertations, publications, or scholarship collecting data from 300 or fewer FAU students, faculty, staff, or alumni.
📋 You MUST submit an authorization request using this ticket service if:
- Large-Scale Campus Surveys: You are surveying broad university audiences (e.g., entire freshman class, all seniors, residence hall populations, or all university employees).
- Survey Committee Approval: Your survey requires institutional review from a Dean/Vice President and the University Survey Research Committee led by Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis (IEA).
- IEA Assistance Needed: You require custom survey design, administrative analysis, or reporting support from IEA.
Note on Human Subjects Research: Regardless of sample size, any survey involving human subjects research falling under the purview of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) must obtain proper IRB review and approval. Refer to the Administration of Campus Surveys and Questionnaires Policy and FAU IRB Policies & Procedures.
